From Space With Love: Google’s Earth Day 2025 Doodle Zooms In On Planet’s Fragile Beauty

Instead of whimsical illustrations, Google opted for actual satellite photographs to reimagine the letters in its logo.

Google has once again turned its homepage into a canvas for awareness, unveiling a breathtaking doodle to mark Earth Day 2025. This year’s creation takes a cosmic perspective, blending artistry with satellite imagery to deliver a powerful environmental message. The doodle not only highlights the planet’s stunning landscapes but also underscores the urgent call for global climate action.

You can check out the Google Doodle today in detail below:

A Planet-Wide Portrait From Space

Instead of whimsical illustrations, the tech giant opted for actual satellite photographs to reimagine the letters in its logo. Each letter of "Google" has been formed using a different Earth ecosystem as seen from above — offering a visually captivating yet sobering reminder of what's at stake.

The first G features the Maldives, with its coral atolls and shimmering turquoise waters, now increasingly under threat from rising sea levels. The first O showcases the icy grandeur of the French Alps, representing the delicate balance of alpine ecosystems. The second O transports us to Cote-Nord in Quebec, Canada, where sprawling boreal forests hug the edges of the St. Lawrence River.

Moving along, the second G captures the arid landscapes of Mendoza Province in Argentina, where life depends on glacial melt from the Andes. The L dives into the sculpted canyons and mesas of Southeastern Utah, shaped by millions of years of erosion. And finally, the E draws attention to Western New South Wales, Australia, highlighting resilience in dry, demanding terrains.

"Our Power, Our Planet": The Message Behind the Imagery

Google’s tribute aligns with the 2025 Earth Day theme: "Our Power, Our Planet". The message is loud and clear — while nature’s beauty is awe-inspiring, its survival hinges on collective human responsibility.

“Through this artwork, Google draws attention to the planet's interconnected ecosystems and the urgent threats posed by climate change,” the company stated on its doodle page.

By using actual satellite visuals, Google quite literally provides a "view from above" — a perspective that forces viewers to reckon with the fragility of the Earth. The doodle is both an appreciation of Earth’s rich tapestry and a call to action.

Earth Day: More Than Just A Date On The Calendar

Celebrated every year on April 22, Earth Day has grown into a global environmental movement. What began as a grassroots initiative is now observed in more than 190 countries, bringing together people across cultures, ideologies, and borders in a shared mission to protect the planet.

This year’s theme serves as a rallying cry to harness renewable energy, push for systemic change, and inspire climate-conscious behavior. Whether you're standing in the Alps or walking through Australian outback, the message remains the same: our planet, our responsibility.

And with its 2025 doodle, Google has managed to capture that sentiment — pixel by pixel, planet by planet.
