Disney+ Hotstar Resumes Services Following Outrage Over Disruption During India Vs England ODI

Disney+ Hotstar users complained that they weren't able to change audio language from Hindi during the India match livestream.

Disney+ Hotstar users in India faced an unexpected outage on Wednesday afternoon, leaving many unable to stream content or access their accounts. Many users also raised concerns over being unable to change audio language during the India vs England cricket match. While the platform has since restored services, the incident has sparked discussions about the reliability of premium streaming services, especially amid rising subscription costs.

When Did Disney+ Hotstar Stop Working?

The disruption, which began around 12:35 pm IST, primarily affected users on web browsers and smart TVs, while mobile app access remained inconsistent. Users who attempted to stream content were met with an error message stating, “Something went wrong, we are having trouble playing this video right now.” The platform also prompted affected users to retry activation or seek help through customer support.

Outage tracking service Downdetector recorded a sharp spike in complaints, with over 98 per cent of reports specifically citing issues with video playback. Users in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad were among those impacted.

The company has not yet issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outage, but services have now been restored across mobile, web, and TV platforms. ABP Live independently verified that the platform was back to normal at the time of writing.

Users Take To X To Vent

As news of the outage spread, frustrated subscribers took to social media to voice their concerns.

With streaming giants facing intense competition, ensuring uninterrupted service has become crucial in retaining subscribers.
