Amazon Prime Lite Subscription Launched In India. Check Price, Benefits And More

Amazon Prime Lite subscription is available for both Android and iOS users as well as for the web client in India.

Amazon Prime Lite membership which is cheaper than the original Amazon Prime membership has been launched for users in India. Unlike Amazon Prime, Amazon Prime Lite will come with fewer benefits. This subscription tier was earlier available for only select users in the country, but now, it has been made available for all users.

Amazon Prime Lite Subscription Price In India

The cost of Amazon Prime Lite has been set at Rs 999 for 12 months. In comparison, the Amazon Prime membership is available for Rs 1,499 for one year in India. Amazon Prime Lite subscription is available for both Android and iOS users as well as for the web client in India. This means users on iOS, Android and the web can sign up for the Amazon Prime Lite plan now.

All Amazon Prime Lite plan users will get free two-day delivery and standard delivery. Users who opt for "No-Rush" shipping to eligible addresses will get a cashback of Rs 25, as part of the tier. Similar to Amazon Prime membership, users will get to stream unlimited videos, movies, TV shows from India and across the globe. However, there's a catch and users will be able to stream only on two devices in HD quality with ads from Prime Video.

Apart from this, Amazon Prime Lite members will not have access to Amazon Music and Prime Reading.

This development comes amid Netflix's expanded efforts to combat password sharing in multiple countries, including the US. The streaming giant, with over 200 million users across the world, has implemented measures to restrict the sharing of accounts outside of the user's own household in an attempt to generate more revenue due to market saturation.

Netflix aims to address the prevalent issue of account sharing, which it believes has impacted more than 100 million households worldwide. At present, the company boasts 232.5 million paying customers globally, as of March.
