New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at a 22-storey building in Malad area of  Mumbai on Saturday afternoon. According to news agency ANI, the fire broke out at the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building located in Kurar village area of Malad.

In a similar incident earlier in the day, two personnel of Rajasthan Police sustained injuries after the tent where they were staying in at Bihar Niwas in Chanakyapuri in central Delhi caught fire, PTI reported.

The injured were identified as Head Constable Hansraj, 56, and Constable Dinesh. They have been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, police said.

The incident comes a few days after a massive fire broke out in Mumbai's Dombivli East. Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell confirmed no casualties were reported in the incident that took place earlier this week.

The incident was reported at the Casa Aurelia building in Dombivli East's Phase 2 of the Lodha Palava development complex around 1:23 pm on January 13.

A short-circuit on the eighth floor triggered the fire, which spread to several flats in the building. However, the resident were safely evacuated before the fire spread. The people resided on the third storey as the other floors were still under construction. Fire engines were rushed to the spot and the flames were doused after several hours, according to reports.

A fire brigade official told Times of India that the fire spread to the duct area of the flats, where fibre sheets were installed on each floor. The fire was completely extinguished approximately by 2:30pm.

"As soon as we were informed, our emergency response team by the Palava City Management Association (PCMA) reached the site to help mitigate the situation," according to a statement released by the Lodha developers.

As per the information from the Palava Fire Station, there were no reported casualties in the incident.
