MP: Teenager Rapes, Murders 9-Yr-Old Sister After Watching Porn; Mother, 2 Sisters Help In Cover-Up

In order to mislead the probe, the family members had changed the spot of their beds and told the police that the victim died after being bitten by a poisonous insect.

Madhya Pradesh: After over three months, Police in Rewa have detained a 13-year-old boy for the rape and murder of his nine-year-old sister. The boy's mother and two elder sisters have also been detained for their alleged involvement in the cover-up of the crime that occurred on April 24.

The police detained them after intense questioning and interrogating nearly 50 people and on the basis of technical evidence. The probe into the matter revealed that the boy had sexually assaulted her younger sister after watching a pornographic video on mobile, following which he killed her, news agency PTI reported.

After his mother and his two elder sisters got to know about this, they helped him in covering-up, police told PTI.

Providing details of the case, Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh said, "A nine-year-old girl was raped and strangulated to death under Jawa police station limits on April 24, following which the police had registered a case and started a probe."

The victim's body was recovered from the courtyard of her house, where she was sleeping at that time.

After the intense interrogation of the family members and collection of technical evidence, it was discovered that the victim's own brother, who had slept beside her at night, had raped and murdered her after watching obscene videos on the mobile phone, Singh said.

The police officer also said that the boy strangulated the victim after she threatened to tell about the sexual assault to their father.

Family Members Tried To Mislead Police

After allegedly committing the crime, the boy later woke up his mother and confided in her. Upon finding that the victim was still alive, the accused again strangled her, SP Singh said.

Meanwhile, his two elder sisters, who had woken up by then, helped their brother and mother to change the spot of their bed before informing the police in order to mislead the investigation.

They had also told the police that the girl had died after being bitten by a poisonous insect.

"However, they finally admitted to their crime after being repeatedly interrogated," he said, adding that further legal steps are being taken in the matter.

On April 24, the police had received information that the body of the girl was lying in the courtyard of her house.

The post-mortem report revealed evidence pointing out to rape and murder, following which an SIT team was constituted to investigate the case.

"The probe revealed that there was no sign of anybody entering the house, and family members also denied hearing any sound during the night," Singh said.

The SP further stated that the technical evidence and interrogation revealed that the family members were repeatedly changing their statements.

"On the basis of suspicion, they were intensely interrogated, following which they admitted the crime," the SP added.
