Lalan Singh Refutes Resigning As JD(U) President, Says Party United

JD(U) national president Lalan Singh refuted rumours about his resignation from the party.

Amid speculations of an organisational restructure within the Janata Dal (United), party national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lalan' on Thursday said that the JD(U) has remain united and will remain the same. Singh's made the comment amid rumours that he has told Kumar that he wanted to step down as party's national president.

"Nitish Kumar is the leader of our party. Janata Dal (United) is united and it will remain the same..."

Ahead of a crucial two-day party conclave scheduled to be held in the national capital, Singh refuted the specualtions of him resigning from the party. "I will call you (mediapersons) when I resign, and consult with you," he said while speaking to reporters on Thursday.

In a brief interaction with journalists before boarding his flight to Delhi, party supremo and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ducked questions about the organisation restructure rumours.

"These meetings take place every year. It's normal…there is nothing specific at all. These are routine meetings", said the CM when journalists sought his views on rumours of major organisational change in JD(U) during the two-day party conclave, reported PTI.

The CM also evaded a direct reply on being asked whether Lalan was likely to make a formal offer of his resignation at the JD(U)'s crucial meetings scheduled in Delhi on December 29.

He also did not address the questions about rumours about him joining the BJP.

Kumar's attention was also drawn towards a claim made by senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar who as a former deputy CM had known Kumar from close quarters that the the CM was growing uneasy with Lalan Singh's closeness with NDA, and fearing sabotage.
