Woman Dies In Landslide In Kerala's Munnar

In another incident, a 42-year-old woman named Mala died in a landslide in Munnar, Kerala. The landslide, triggered by continuous heavy rains, caused soil and boulders to fall on her tin-sheet-roof house in Mahatma Gandhi Colony. Despite swift efforts to rescue and transport her to a nearby hospital, Mala succumbed to her injuries, as reported by PTI.

The landslide occurred under the jurisdiction of the Munnar police station, with local officials and police confirming the details. The district has been experiencing heavy rains since Monday, exacerbating the risk of landslides and other related hazards.

In response to the ongoing heavy rainfall, the district administration in Idukki has implemented a ban on night travel across the district as a precautionary measure. Collector Sheeba George has urged residents to exercise caution and stay alert to the potential for further landslides and related dangers.

The incident highlights the dangers posed by unstable structures during heavy rainfall.
