Jharkhand: Kashmiri Traders 'Forced' To Chant 'Jai Shri Ram', Three Detained. CM Orders Immediate Action
According to Jharkhand Police, a group of around 25 people attacked some Kashmiri traders in Ranchi's Doranda area and forced them to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Pakistan Murdabad'.
New Delhi: A 34-year-old Kashmiri trader in Jharkhand lodged a complaint with the police alleging an attack on him and some other traders by a mob that forced them to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Pakistan Murdabad', as per a report in PTI.
According to Jharkhand Police, a group of around 25 people attacked some Kashmiri traders in Ranchi's Doranda area and forced them to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Pakistan Murdabad'. Three people from the group of 'attackers' have been detained on Sunday, police sources said.
A video shared on Twitter shows the Kashmiri traders complaining about the incident. One of the traders in the video could be heard saying, “Are we not Indians? These people forced us to chant Jai Shri Ram.” Another trader in the video said, “Is it a sin for us to be Kashmiris? We respect all the tourists but that does not mean that we should be beaten up. They (mob) are saying that we are terrorists.”
After the video went viral on the microblogging site, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren retweeted the video and ordered immediate action over the incident.
Tagging Jharkhand Police, Soren wrote in his tweet, “@JharkhandPolice Take cognizance and strict action against the culprits. There is no place for religious enmity and discrimination in Jharakhand.”

As per the report, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Kumar Jha said that an investigation into the matter was underway. "We have detained three persons in connection to the incident. An investigation has been initiated into the matter and action will be taken against those found guilty," said the SSP.
