Israeli Trekker Who Went Missing During Trekking In Himachal Traced And Rescued

Israeli trekker Ran had gone missing during a Hampta Pass trek between Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts.

A 26-year-old Israeli trekker reported missing in Himachal Pradesh has been found, news agency Press Trust of India reported. Ran, the trekker, had gone missing during a trek through Hampta Pass between Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts, the report said.

Ran has now been traced, and he is staying in a camp, Kullu Superintendent of Police Gurdev Sharma was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Director Sudesh Mokhta had said two Israeli trekkers — Yuvan Cohan (24) and Ran — were crossing the Hamta Pass, and while Cohan reached Koksar area in Lahaul-Spiti district late Sunday night, Ran did not. According to the Lahaul-Spiti district emergency operation centre (DEOC), the two had started their trek on June 9 from Manali in Kullu district, and were going towards Koksar in Lahaul-Spiti district through Hamta top.

According to the PTI report, the Manali sub-divisional magistrate had deployed a rescue team comprising two members of Adventure Tours Operators Association Manali.

Sharma said the rescue team was using a private helicopter to look for and rescue the missing Israli trekker.

A police team along with local residents was also dispatched to the location to trace and rescue Ran, Mokhta told PTI.

Quoting Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner Neeraj Kumar, a UNI report said Ran was traced by the local administration near Hamta Pass trek around 12 pm on Monday. He was being brought to Koksar at the time of writing.
