Gurugram: Woman's Condition Critical After Attack By Pit Bull. FIR Against Owners

Gurugram Pit Bull Attack: The woman, identified as Munni, has suffered serious injuries on her head and face.

A 36-year-old woman has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition after she was attacked by a pit bull dog in Gurugram's Civil Lines area on Thursday. The woman, identified as Munni, has suffered serious injuries on her head and face, PTI reported.

Munni, who works as a domestic help at a few houses in the locality, was going to work in the morning when the incident happened. At the same time, the pit bull owner Vinit Chikara took out his dog for a walk.

As Chikara left the dog's harness loose, it knocked Munni down and bit her all over her body. Locals then rushed to the spot and got Munni admitted to the hospital, where she is battling for life, PTI reported.

"I was going to work around 7 am when the dog came running. It was raining and I slipped. The dog then attacked me," ANI quoted Munni, a native of West Bengal, as saying. Munni lives with her husband and three kids at a rented accommodation near a dam in the Civil Lines area.

An FIR has been registered against the dog owners, Vinit Chikara and his wife Neetu Chikara, following a complaint by one of the victim's relatives.

The complainant, Beauty, sister-in-law of Munni, alleged that the dog owner intentionally left the dog free.

"The dog first grabbed Munni's neck from behind, and later, the dog bit her all across the body. I escaped unhurt as I was behind Munni. The owners were watching everything but did not offer any help. Due to the attack, Munni fell unconscious. She is now admitted at a hospital in Delhi and is in a critical condition," Beauty told IANS.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (crime) Preet Pal Singh Sangwan told PTI that the matter was being investigated and action would be taken as per law.

"Based on the complaint received in this regard, a case under sections 289, 338 of the IPC has been registered against the owner of the dog at the Civil Lines Police of Gurugram. We are yet to make any arrests in the case," Subhash Boken, spokesperson of the Gurugram police, told IANS.
