She also appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to look into this matter.

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday registered a case against the family members of AAP candidate Mamta Meena for allegedly committing assault and kidnapping ahead of the Assembly elections.

Meena, however, denied all the accusations leveled against 12 members of her family, stating that these were "false allegations."

She also appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to look into this matter.

"I came to know through the media that a case of assault and kidnapping has been filed against 12 members of my family. I want to clarify that these allegations are false and appeal to the Election Commission on the matter," said Mamta Meena who will contest from the Chachoura constituency in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

The police said that it received information on Saturday night that a vehicle had been stopped and vandalised. They further stated that the people inside the car were subjected to assault, and one person was even abducted.

Police said that a case has been registered in Madhya Pradesh's Guna and the investigation is underway.

"At around 2 am yesterday, we received information that a vehicle was stopped and vandalised. The people inside it were assaulted, and one person was abducted. A case has been registered and investigation is underway," a police official said.
