Maharashtra: 'Whoever Becomes My Heir Will Be My Son', Eknath Shinde Takes A Dig At Thackerays

Bachchan's couplet posted by Shinde said, "My son, being my son will not be my heir, whoever will be my heir will be my son."

New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday took to Twitter to share a couplet by famous Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, which said that whosoever is his heir will be his son and not vice versa. The tweets came ahead of his Dussehra rally today at the MMRDA ground in Mumbai

Shinde's tweet appeared to be targeted at former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray. Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena also held a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park at around 7 PM today.

Bachchan's couplet posted by Shinde said, "My son, being my son will not be my heir, whoever will be my heir will be my son."

Earlier, both the Sena factions released video trailers of the rally which will be held today at two different venues in accordance with a court decision.

Releasing a video on a social media platform, Maharashtra CM Shinde's faction called in for people's presence in numbers at Bombay Kurla Complex.

It also mentioned that national issues would be discussed during the gathering and inspirational speeches would be given that would last as an oxygen supply for one whole year. The teaser also stressed party workers and appreciation of their efforts, as reported by ANI.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government collapsed on June 29 this year after Shinde rebelled against the Sena leadership along with 39 party legislators. Shinde took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra a day later with senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis as his deputy.

Shinde, who heads the rebel group of the Shiv Sena which has the backing of 39 MLAs and 12 MPs, held a mega rally at Bandra Kurla Complex, while Uddhav Thackeray will address a rally at the iconic Shivaji Park ground.

Both the factions are locked in a bitter tussle to prove which of them is the "real" Shiv Sena. Eknath Shinde on Sunday said that they will not challenge the Bombay High Court's decision in the Supreme Court for allowing the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction to hold a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

On September 23, the Bombay High Court ruled in favour of the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena and allowed them to hold the Dussehra rally at the Shivaji Park.
