Crackdown On Amritpal To Stop People From Seeking Justice For Moosewala: Father Balkaur Singh

Moosewala's death anniversary was observed in advance. His father questioned the timing of the Punjab government's action on Amritpal Singh asking, why did they not find any other day to catch him.

The parents of slain singer Sidhu Moosewala on Sunday attacked the Punjab government asserting that the crackdown on extremist preacher Amritpal Singh was deliberately planned to coincide with the observance of their son's death anniversary. Moosewala's father Balkaur Singh asked the government why did they not find any other day to catch Amritpal, reported news agency PTI.

Balkaur Singh said, "I want to ask the government why did they not find any other day to catch Amritpal, why they chose today? Why internet has been suspended today?"

Singh claimed it was deliberately done to stop people from raising their voices to seek justice for Moosewala at his 'Barsi'. He stated that the fight for justice for his son will continue.

Police are looking to nab radical preacher Amritpal Singh and the Punjab government has extended restrictions on mobile internet and SMS services until Monday afternoon.

After the Punjab Police began a massive crackdown on Saturday and detained 78 members of the "Waris Punjab De," which is commanded by the self-described radical cleric, he has remained on the lam.

Moosewala's death anniversary was observed in advance. According to his father, when residents of his hometown congregated to remember the late artist and hold prayers, they did not have access to the internet.

He claimed that while the general public lacks an internet connection, gangsters who are imprisoned do have access to it.

He also alleged Lawrence Bishnoi is having free time while referring to one of his recent interviews to ABP News. Singh said, "When he (Lawrence Bishnoi) appeared on TV, I felt like my son has died again."

Charan Kaur, the mother of Moosewala, said that inmates signing death orders for people were actually criminals.

Regarding Amritpal Singh, she said she did not know who he was or from where he had arrived, but said he was directing the youth towards "Sikhi" and that so far no wrong action on his part has come to the fore.

She said that although the anniversary of her son's death had been announced months in advance, the police chose the same time to announce that they had lodged FIRs against Amritpal and his followers in the Ajnala incident and launched a crackdown.

Senior state Congress leaders, including Partap Singh Bajwa and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, attended the event in Mansa.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
