Poor Visibility Forces Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's Chopper To Make Emergency Landing At Sevoke Airbase

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's helicopter had to make an emergency landing at Sevoke Airbase due to low visibility.

Due to low visibility, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's chopper had to make an emergency landing at Siliguri's Sevoke Airbase. After addressing a public gathering at Krinti, Jalpaiguri, the Chief Minister was going to Bagdogra. As per TMC leader Rajib Banerjee, the TMC Supremo is safe.

Notably, Banerjee on Monday began her full-scale campaign for the July 8 panchayat elections from North Bengal's Cooch Behar.

While speaking at an election rally, Banerjee accused the BSF of scaring voters in the bordering areas of the state at the behest of the saffron camp and asked the police administration to keep a close watch on their activities.

"I have information that in the run up to the panchayat election, some BSF officials are visiting the border areas, threatening voters and forcing them not to vote. I will ask people not to be scared of their tactics and fearlessly participate in the elections," she said.

Asserting that Trinamool will defeat BJP in the three-tier rural polls, Banerjee said, "We will then oust the BJP from the Centre and bring a development-oriented government in the country."

The TMC supremo also asked people to send photographs of those who seek bribes, and "prompt action will be taken against the corrupt."

Around 5.67 crore voters are likely to exercise their franchise in the panchayat polls to elect nearly 75,000 candidates in zilla parishads, panchayat samiti and gram panchayats.
