'Jungle Raj In Delhi, Give Us Law And Order': Kejriwal Jabs LG Over Pragati Maidan Robbery

A day after two people were robbed at gunpoint in Pragati Maidan, Kejriwal demanded that Delhi's law and order should be handed over to the AAP government.

Intensifying his attack on Delhi LG VK Saxena over law and order situation in Delhi after two people were robbed at gunpoint in Pragati Maidan, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said there was "jungle raj" in the capital.

On Delhi LG calling a meeting to discuss the spate of recent crimes in Delhi, Kejriwal said it was just a formality.

"It seems the Central govt doesn't have a solid plan to improve Delhi's law and order. Calling a meeting is just a formality," ANI quoted the AAP supremo as saying.

Kejriwal also reiterated his demand that Delhi's law and order should be handed over to the AAP government.

"In the Pragati Maidan area where G20 meetings will be held, a robbery was committed in broad daylight. There is 'Jungle Raj' in Delhi. Give us law and order, we will make it the safest city," the Delhi CM said.

Kejriwal further said the Centre and L-G were devoting their full energy on how to stop work being done by the AAP govt on mohalla clinics, schools and water supply.

On Monday, Kejriwal demanded Lt Governor VK Saxena's resignation over the incident. "LG should resign. Make way for someone who can provide safety n security to the people of Delhi. (sic)," he said in a tweet.

The AAP's attack on the LG comes a day after four motorcycle-borne men intercepted a car and looted about Rs 2 lakh from a delivery agent and his associate at gunpoint. The incident happened when they were going towards Gurugram in a taxi to deliver the money.

A 22-second video, which has gone viral, shows the four men following the vehicle on two motorcycles and intercepting it inside the Pragati Maidan tunnel.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the case, PTI reported.

In recent weeks, a spate of crime incidents has led to a fresh tussle between the ruling AAP and the LG, who is in-charge of law and order in city. Besides land and public order, Delhi Police falls under the domain of the Centre. Since the LG is the representative of the Centre, the police reports directly to him.
