'Someone Mixed Something In His Food': Jitan Ram Manjhi Claims 'Conspiracy' Over CM Nitish's Remark

Bihar News: Former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and other BJP leaders staged a protest outside the Bihar Legislative Assembly demanding CM Nitish Kumar's resignation.

Bihar News:sta Following the controversial remarks made by Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Nitish Kumar, former state CM Jitan Ram Manjhi and BJP leaders staged a protest on Friday at the Bihar Assembly premises, demanding Kumar's resignation. While speaking to the media, Manjhi suggested that someone might be "conspiring to take his seat by putting something in his food," which led him to make inappropriate comments about women. He added that Kumar had behaved similarly with him on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the Bihar CM stoked controversy because of his choice of words in emphasising the importance of education for women to control the population. However, he later apologised for these comments.

"It appears as if someone is conspiring to claim Nitish Kumar's seat by putting some kind of substance in his food, which has led to him making such statements about women. He behaved in a similar way with me yesterday," said former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi.

Manjhi was referring to the comment made by CM Kumar during a discussion on the Reservation Amendment Bill in the Bihar Assembly. Kumar had said, "It was my mistake that I made this person (Jitan Ram Manjhi) a chief minister. Within two months, my party leaders started saying that there was some problem and that Manjhi should be removed. Then I became the chief minister. He (Manjhi) keeps saying that he was the chief minister. He became CM because of my foolishness."

CM Kumar had targeted Manjhi after the latter criticised the Bihar government, stating that he does not trust the caste census and flagged "incorrect statistics."

Adding to this, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that those who always suppressed Dalits and backward classes for political gains have been exposed yet again. It is visible that it is not for the empowerment of the backward class and Dalits; it is for their exploitation.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Lakhindra Paswan commented on RJD MLAs distributing sweets outside the Bihar Assembly. Paswan said that Kumar distributed sweets while stating, "Take sweets in the name of women and Dalits." "Are they shameless?" Paswan asked.

"Nitish Kumar has insulted women and a Dalit, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and their MLAs are distributing laddoos. Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav have no shame. Are their MLAs shameless as well?" Paswan said.
