Andhra Pradesh Govt Postpones Budget Presentation By 2 Months 'Due To Financial Constraints'

In a significant development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced in the Assembly on Tuesday that the state government will delay presenting the budget by two months due to financial constraints. The event was also attended by 

During the second meeting of the first session of the newly formed TDP-led government, Chief Minister Naidu addressed the Assembly revealing the state's decision on the budget. "Because of financial constraints, we are not able to table the budget now. We have decided to table it after two months," Naidu stated, as per a report on PTI.

The Chief Minister took the opportunity to express gratitude to the central government for its support in the Union Budget for 2024-25 particularly for the Polavaram Project. He acknowledged the Centre's commitment to expedite the project's completion which is crucial for the state's irrigation needs.

Naidu also welcomed the allocation of Rs 15,000 crore in the Union Budget for the development of Amaravati, the proposed capital city of Andhra Pradesh. "Good days have returned to Amaravati," he declared, as per the report, emphasising his long-standing efforts to establish the greenfield capital city.

In addition to discussing the budget delay, Naidu promised to prioritise infrastructure improvements, including road repairs across the state. He also announced the release of the remaining three white papers on excise, law and order, and state finance, which will commence on Wednesday.

Following Naidu's address, Speaker C Ayyannapatrudu adjourned the House to reconvene on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has reached New Delhi to protest against the alleged attacks on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) cadres by the ruling government and the deteriorating law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh. The protest is scheduled for Wednesday and will include a photo exhibition highlighting the alleged atrocities.
