The legendary singer took to micro-blogging site Twitter and expressed her desire regarding Dhoni's retirement. "Namaskar MS Dhoni ji. Aaj kal main sun rahi hun ke Aap retire hona chahte hain.Kripaya aap aisa mat sochiye.Desh ko aap ke khel ki zaroorat hai aur ye meri bhi request hai ki Retirement ka vichar bhi aap mann mein mat laayiye. (These days, I am hearing that you want to retire. Please don't think like this. The country needs your skills and it is my request also that you don't allow the thought of retirement to enter your mind)", she tweeted. Mangeshkar further shared a song written by Gulzar and song by herself and caption it: "We Team India might not have won yesterday, but we didn't even lose." It is noteworthy that the Bharat Ranta awardee not on an avid social media user and tweets on rare occasions. However, with Dhoni's retirement being a hotbed debate across the country, she must have felt the need to express her desire for the wicket-keeper/batsman to continue playing for the country. Garnering praise from such an iconic singer surely must be one of the biggest compliments in Dhoni's career and it would be worth the wait to see how the former Indian skipper responds to it. As the speculations rife that Dhoni might hang up his boots from international cricket post World Cup 2019, even batting legend Sachin Tendukar has that Dhoni must be given space to go out on his own terms while making a point that India's wicket-keeper batsman has had a terrific record in limited over cricket. Still there is no official confirmation from officials on Dhoni's retirement and even Indian skipper Virat Kohli has said that the former captain himself has not discussed anything about his retirement with him or the team.
