Wimbledon: Federer eyes semi-final spot

London [UK], July 11 (ANI): Twenty-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer will look to book his place in the semi-finals of Wimbledon when he collides with South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the last-eight clash of the men's singles event here on Wednesday.

Earlier, the 32-year-old had defeated France's Adrian Mannarino 6-0, 7-5, 6-4 in a thrilling fourth-round of the championship.

The Swiss tennis star, who has not lost a single set in the tournament so far, will look to continue his winning momentum heading into the quarter-final clash.

As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, Federer holds 100% winning record against his South African opponent as he has played Anderson four times before and clinched all the four matches.

In other clashes of the day, world number twenty one Novak Djokovic will take on world number 28 Kei Nishikori, while Spanish tennis maestro Rafael Nadal will face Argentina's Juan Martín del Potro for a place in the semi-final round.

In women's singles event, American tennis star Serena Williams will cross swords with German tennis player Julia Gorges to cement her spot in the final of the championship. (ANI)
