WATCH: Sarfaraz Khan's 'Roaring Celebration' After Scoring Double Ton In Ranji Trophy

Former India and Tamil Nadu opener WV Raman is the only other Indian apart from Sarfaraz Khan - making him second Indian batsman - to have followed his triple century with a double

Dharamshala: Days after scoring his first ever triple-century in first-class cricket, Sarfaraz Khan, on Monday, followed his triple century last week with a double hundred today against Himachal Pradesh in their Ranji Trophy match at Dharamshala. Sarfaraz, who has now crossed the 200-run mark in two successive innings in this year's Ranji season, remained 226 (213 balls) not out at stumps. His innings helped Mumbai (372/5) end the day on a positive note after being 71/4 at one stage in the game. The 22-year-old Mumbai batsman, who is 74 runs away from the rarest feat of consecutive triple ton in first class cricket, is now eyeing the historic milestone of scoring back-to-back triple tons in first class cricket. Record: Former India and Tamil Nadu opener WV Raman is the only other Indian apart from Sarfaraz Khan - making him second Indian batsman - to have followed his triple century with a double. Meanwhile, few days back, Sarfaraz Khan brought up his maiden triple century in first-class cricket to lead Mumbai's fightback against Uttar Pradesh on day four in their Group B game. The match ended in a tie but it was Sarfaraz who stole the show as he remained unbeaten on 301 from 391 deliveries with the help of 30 fours and eight sixes. Sarfaraz Khan's 301 not out is now the second-highest score in first-class cricket while batting at number six. The highest is by Karun Nair who hit 328 in the 2014/15 Ranji Trophy final also at the Wankhede Stadium. “It’s a proud feeling to return and also join Mumbai’s triple-century club, alongside great players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Jaffer and Rohit Sharma,” Sarfaraz Khan had told ESPNCricinfo after his monumental knock.
