Rohit Sharma Becomes 3rd Fastest Batsman To Notch Up 9000 ODI Runs

Rohit Sharma is also the 2nd fastest Indian behind skipper Virat Kohli to 9000 ODI runs.

New Delhi: Indian opener Rohit Sharma achieved yet another milestone in his career as he became the third-fastest batsman to score 9000 ODI runs during the ongoing 3rd ODI of the 3-match series between India and Australia at the MA Chinnaswamy Stadium  in Bengaluru. Rohit took just 217 innings to notch up 9000 ODI runs overtaking former Indian greats like Ganguly (228 innings), Tendulkar (235 innings) and Brian Lara (239 innings). Rohit Sharma is also the 2nd fastest Indian behind skipper Virat Kohli to 9000 ODI runs. Rohit Sharma who chipped in with 42 in the second match at Rajkot, needed just 4 runs before this game to surpass former India skipper Sourav Ganguly and become the 2nd fastest Indian to reach the milestone. The 32-year-old, who was awarded the ODI cricketer of 2019 by ICC achieved the feat in the first over of India's run chase at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. The record for the fastest to 9000 ODI runs stands with India skipper Virat Kohli, who achieved the feat in just 194 innings. The second batsman in the elite list is former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers (205 innings).
