Real Madrid Vs Bayern Munich: Champions League Preview
Defending Champions Real Madrid host Bavarian giants Bayern Munich at Santiago Bernabeu in the second league of the Champions League semi-finals.
Real Madrid will host German champions Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday. Real were victorious in the first leg of the semi-finals.
Los Blancos were not dominant in their previous match against Bayern but were certainly clinical in punishing Bayern for their mistakes.
Bayern looked more threatening than Real Madrid from the start of the game. They lost their talismanic winger Arjen Robben in the 8th minute and he was replaced by the Spaniard Thiago Alcantara.
Bayern took the lead in the 28th minute with an amazing strike from Joshua Kimmich. Bayern suffered another injury blow when their German defender Jerome Boateng who suffered a hamstring injury and was replaced by fellow German Niklas Sule.
Bayern looked threatening but just couldn't capitalize on the opportunities and mistakes from the Bavarians were punished by Marcelo and Marco Asensio while Bayern just couldn't find another goal.
Bayern will be without Robben and Jerome Boateng and will look to get a quick goal in the match. Bayern looked effective in the league match they played over the weekend as they scored 4 goals that too with major players being absent from the squad.
Real, on the other hand, looked comfortable only until the half-time and looked unconvincing in the second-half. Real also rested many of their squad members for the second leg.
Real's manager Zinedine Zidane who saw his team almost being knocked out of the Champions League seemed to have learnt from the mistakes that Real made as he put more emphasis on Real attacking.
Real will be without Isco and right-back Dani Carvajal as both of them have been ruled out with injuries but have got a boost as Nacho will be available.
"We've got to go out and get an early goal," Zidane said at a press conference ahead of Tuesday's clash with Bayern.
"No need to take chances, to play on the back foot, nor to do anything strange," he added.
The tie is far from over and this is what Real's manager said who definitely had suffered a scare against Juventus. It will be an intriguing battle between the two sides as both of them know what is at stake this time and will do anything to progress to the finals.
