Tsitsipas created an upset in the quarterfinals defeating another favourite Dominic Thiem in straight sets before seeing of P. Carreño Busta in straight sets. The Greek star couldn't repeat the feat in the final and was totally dominated by the Spaniard who made sure that he grabs his 11th Barcelona Open title. Nadal after the win said that "It's exciting for me." "The only bad thing is that I get old," Nadal said after lifting aloft the trophy. Nadal, who won his 11th Monte-Carlo Masters title last Sunday, extended his clay court winning streak to an Open Era record of 46 straight sets while sealing his 401st career win on that surface.
