Losing is part of game: Sushil Kumar on exit from Asian Games

Jakarta [Indonesia], August 19 (ANI): Star Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar, who suffered an early exit from the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games on Sunday, has said that he is quite clear about the way ahead and has his plan ready for the future tournaments.

The 35-year-old further asserted that losing is a part of the game and it is not the first time that he is facing such situation.

Speaking to ANI, Kumar said, "This (defeat) is common in sports and I have faced similar situation many times before. But I am clear about the way forward. Now, I know how to tackle a particular wrestler, what game plan to apply, I have a plan ready. If there are weak points, I will tackle them."

Reflecting on the weak points during the match, the India wrestler said that he took a hasty decision to attack in the initial minutes of the bout and added that he should have applied the defensive technique instead of being offensive.

"Coaches will tell me about the weak point but I think I should have countered after getting three 3 points instead of attacking," he said.

The two-time Olympic medalist assured the Indian fans that he would make a solid comeback in the upcoming tournaments.

Kumar was eliminated from the Asian Games after suffering a shocking 3-5 first round defeat at the hands of Bahrain's Adam Batirov in men's 74 kg freestyle wrestling category.

Asian Games, which began on August 18, will continue till September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. (ANI)
