FULL SCORECARD
England will be distraught at the moment! They put up a brave batting show to pile on a big total and their bowlers got them off to a brilliant start as well. The visiting team had India on the mat after picking four wickets quickly but then had no answers to Kohli and Jadhav's brilliance. The English team though got a sniff once they broke the big stand but failed to capitalize. Stokes, Ball and Willey were among the wickets but they weren't effecting enough in creating pressure. What a run chase from India! They have scaled a gigantic target to go 1-0 up in the 3-match ODI series. They stuttered early on in the chase but the superlative 200-run partnership between Kohli and Jadhav brought back on the track. Things got tensed towards the end when both these batsmen got out, but India's lower order batsmen held their nerves and dragged the home team beyond the finish line. Ashwin seals it with a six India win the first ODI by 3 wickets. INDIA: 356/7, Overs; 48.1 INDIA: 334/7, Hardik Pandya 30(31), Ravichandran Ashwin 4 (3) Overs: 46 OUT! Jake Ball to Ravindra Jadeja, OUT! Ball gets Jadeja! Short of a length ball outside off, Jadeja could have easily nudged it around the corner but goes for a big pull shot. Ends up top edging it high in the air towards mid on where the English leggie, Adil Rashid takes it safely. 33 needed from 35 balls. England still very much in this contest. As the saying goes, "It's not over, until it's over!" INDIA: 318/7 INDIA: 305/6, Hardik Pandya 15(18), Ravindra Jadeja 7(7) Overs: 42 OUT! Jake Ball to Kedar Jadhav, OUT! A body blow in the chase for India! Jadhav was struggling with cramps and now has got out. Ball digs in a short ball on middle and off, Jadhav swivels with the pull shot and hits it over square leg. But there isn't enough distance behind the shot and Stokes grabs the catch at deep square leg. The local lad walks back after playing an outstanding knock. 61 needed off 60 balls! INDIA: 288/5, Kedar Jadhav 119 (74), Hardik Pandya 8 (9) Overs: 39 OUT! Ben Stokes to Virat Kohli, OUT c David Willey b Ben Stokes. India have lost their fifth wicket. Chris Woakes to Kedar Jadhav, FOUR! 2nd ODI ton for Kedar Jadhav and what a knock this has been! He came in when his side was in immense pressure and delivers it when he side needed. He got some hearing from Kohli but now gets a pat on the back. Landed outside off, Jadhav opens the face and glides it ever so elegantly down to third man for a boundary. Jadhav follows Kohli, slams his 2nd ODI ton INDIA: 229/4, Virat Kohli 105 (93), Kedar Jadhav 86 (53) Overs: 32 Chris Woakes to Virat Kohli, SIX! Take that! What a way to reach a century! Full in length and angling into the batsman, Kohli walks down the track and smacks it straight down the ground for a biggie. The crowd has gone bonkers. What a way to start your captaincy stint. 122 needed off 108 balls and the chase master is up and running. England under pressure! 'Captain' Virat Kohli rises to the occasion, completes his 27th ODI ton, INDIA: 198/4, Virat Kohli 89 (82), Kedar Jadhav 71 (46) Overs: 26 INDIA: 174/4, Virat Kohli 75 (55), Kedar Jadhav 61 (39) Overs: 26

Jake Ball to MS Dhoni, OUT! Top edge! Another one bites the dust and the Indians are going nowhere in the chase. Ball bowls a back of a length ball on middle, Dhoni was a step out of his crease and looks to pull this. The ball climbs on Dhoni and cramps his for room. He however has no option but has to go after it. Top edge squirts up towards the on side and David Willey from mid on settles under it. 288 needed from 229 balls. TOSS - Virat Kohli spins the coin. Eoin Morgan calls it incorrectly. INDIA WILL BOWL! For England they have Eoin Morgan and he has a powerful batting line-up who can take any attack to the cleaners. His side would need to forget what happened in Tests and need to start afresh. Can they put up a fight and start the New Year with a bang? Or will the Indians continue with the momentum. Hello and a warm welcome for the 1st ODI in Pune. The all-important toss is on its way. Stay tuned...India have won the toss and elected to bowl first @Paytm #TeamIndia #INDvENG pic.twitter.com/yNwB4a7ISG
