Kings XI Punjab All-Rounder Undergoes Surgery For Compound Dislocation On His Finger

While playing for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020, Jimmy Neesham scored only 19 runs and was able to take just two wickets. His IPL team's condition was also not good last year as they were ranked sixth by the end of the tournament.

New Zealand cricket team's star all-rounder James Neesham had to undergo an operation due to a fracture of his left right finger. According to Cricket Wellington, the star player had to undergo surgery on 16 January and specialist doctors will examine his condition again within a week. Neesham could not perform well in the IPL last year. He is expected to make a comeback in the last leg of the ongoing Super Smash tournament.

While giving information about him, Cricket Wellington tweeted that the joints of James Neesham's left hand's ring finger were separated. He was operated on Saturday night. Neesham has now said that his operation has gone well and now his goal is to return to the cricketing field via Super Smash.

The 30-year-old has played in five of the six Super Smash matches so far. During this, he has taken eight wickets along with scoring 65 runs with the bat. He played against Canterbury on 16 January. In this game, he contributed with a valuable innings of 49 runs which helped Wellington reach a total of 154 runs for loss of seven wickets.

Jimmy Neesham appears mostly in T20 cricket matches but he has also played Test and ODI for New Zealand. He scored 709 runs in 12 Tests and 1286 runs in 63 ODIs. Also, he has scored 250 runs in 24 T20Is. Neesham has also taken 90 international wickets in all three formats.

Neesham was also part of the New Zealand team that finished as runner-up in the 2019 World Cup. He played well in that tournament. But lately, he has not been in good form. While playing for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020, he scored only 19 runs and was able to take just two wickets. His IPL team's condition was also not good last year as they were ranked sixth by the end of the tournament.

Neesham was picked in the New Zealand's squad for home T20 series against the West Indies and Pakistan, despite not being in form. He made a decisive contribution in the match played against the West Indies at Eden Park. In this game, he scored 48 runs off 24 balls. Due to this innings, New Zealand won the rain-affected match.
