Shah Rukh Khan Offered Blank Cheque To Gautam Gambhir At Mannat To Persuade Him To Ditch LSG For KKR: Report
Shah Rukh Khan Offered Blank Cheque To Gautam Gambhir: The KKR Co-owned successfully managed to rope in Gautam Gambhir as the team mentor. In turn, KKR won their first trophy in 10 years.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a dream season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Shreyas Iyer-led side not only managed to top the league stage but then won Qualifier 1 and the final to claim their third title. Other than the players and the coaching staff, there was one man whose 'homecoming' to KKR seems to have worked wonders for the team and that happens to be Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir, who was previously the captain of KKR when the team had lifted the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014, joined the team as its mentor before the start of the 2024 season. And the result was instantenous with the team going on to clinch the title. While Gambhir may have joined KKR before the 2024 season, a Dainik Jagran report claims that he was in talks with KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) when the ex-cricketer was the mentor of a rival franchise- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The report further suggests that Shah Rukh offered a blank cheque to Gambhir, telling him that he needs to run the team for the next 10 years. The meeting between Gambhir and Shah Rukh apparently happened in the actor's house- Mannat-in Mumbai.
While initially LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka did not believe there was any truth in Gambhir's departure with the team making it two playoffs in two seasons with Gambhir as part of coaching staff, as it turned out the reports turned out to be true.
