IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas Iyer recreated Argentina's legendary footballer Lionel Messi's iconic FIFA World Cup winning celebration in Qatar.

Ending a decade-long wait, Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Sunday's KKR vs SRH Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Final to secure their third IPL title. Previously, under Gautam Gambhir's captaincy, KKR won the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp was buzzing with celebration following their 8-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Sunday's title match in Chennai.

Captain Shreyas Iyer was presented with the IPL trophy by BCCI President Rose Binny and Secretary Jay Shah. The IPL 2024 winning captain then recreated Argentina's legendary footballer Lionel Messi's iconic FIFA World Cup winning celebration in Qatar.

In a thrilling finale in December 2022 in Qatar, Messi-led Argentina edged past France to lift the FIFA World Cup title.

Upon receiving the trophy, Messi made his teammates wait on the podium for a few minutes before joining them.

Recreating Messi's iconic celebration style, reminiscent of his World Cup triumph, Shreyas Iyer did exactly that after being presented with the IPL trophy at Chepauk.

Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer and with the guidance of two-time IPL winner Gautam Gambhir as mentor, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had an exceptional run in the IPL 2024 season. They lost just three matches, finished as table-toppers, and continued their dominance in the playoffs by remaining undefeated.

KKR successfully restricted SRH to a mere 113 runs and chased down the target in just 10.3 overs to clinch their third IPL trophy. Mitchell Starc, the most expensive bid at Rs 24.75 crore in IPL 2024 auction, conceding only 14 runs in his spell of 3 overs during KKR vs SRH IPL 2024 final, claiming 2 crucial wickets. Starc's exceptional bowling saw him clean bowled Abhishek in the very first over of the match.
