West Bengal Politics: Humayun Kabir Launches ‘Janta Unnayan Party’ in Murshidabad, Targets TMC and BJP Ahead of 2026 Polls

Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Humayun Kabir is set to formally announce his new political party, Janta Unnayan Party, in Murshidabad today, marking a major development in West Bengal’s political landscape ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Humayun Kabir was expelled from the TMC after he announced the laying of the foundation stone for a mosque modeled on the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad earlier this month. Kabir has announced that his party will contest 135 out of the total 294 Assembly seats in the 2026 elections.
