Navjot Sidhu Calls Ambati Rayudu’s Idol A ‘Girgit’ In Clash During Commentary
During a live IPL commentary, Navjot Singh Sidhu called Ambati Rayudu’s idol a “girgit” (chameleon) in response to Rayudu mocking him for switching teams.

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, and six-time IPL champion, Ambati Rayudu continues to make headlines in the media for his outspoken and unfiltered style. During the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and CSK, Rayudu, who is often criticised by social media users for his perceived bias towards CSK and MS Dhoni, found himself in a heated on-air exchange with fellow commentator and the former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Rayudu has built a reputation as an unfiltered pundit, with his admiration for Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians well known. The former India batter hasn’t shied away from openly criticising Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the past either.
However, in a viral video of the live commentary from the PBKS vs CSK match, Rayudu called Navjot Singh Sidhu a "girgit (chameleon)" for switching teams, to which Sidhu sharply responded, saying, "Is sansar me girgit ki tarah koi hai to tumhare aradhyadev hai (if there's someone in this world who is like chameleon, it is your idol)".

This isn’t the first time Ambati Rayudu has made headlines for his on-air heated exchange. Ahead of the PBKS vs CSK clash, he got into a tense chat with former cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar. The disagreement arose when Bangar spoke about Rohit Sharma’s potential role in supporting Hardik Pandya with on-field strategies, a suggestion Rayudu firmly dismissed, insisting that Hardik doesn’t need any guidance or input.
“I don't think Hardik needs input. A captain needs to be left alone,” Rayudu said on Star Sports
“Dhoni was not at his ears all the time. Same for Rohit. Then why should Hardik have 10 people at his ears?” He added
“No, captain has to be left alone, Sanjay bhai,” Rayudu concluded.
In reply Bangar Said, “For you, it was different because you never led an IPL team. But here is a guy who has led the team to multiple IPL titles.”
