MS Dhoni confirmed that his decision on whether he will play for CSK in IPL 2025 will largely depend on the retention rules.
"There’s a lot of time left for the franchises and management to decide on the retention rules and everything. Right now, we don’t have the ball in our court. If MS Dhoni decides to retire as a player from IPL, it is expected that he might still be involved with the Chennai Super Kings franchise as a mentor. Should the IPL Governing Council announce retention rules that allow CSK to retain 5 or more players, Dhoni could potentially play for at least one more season with Chennai.
