Vande Bharat: India’s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train to Run Between Guwahati and Kolkata

India is set to get its first-ever Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, with Indian Railways announcing the Guwahati-Kolkata (Kamakhya-Howrah) route. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the high-speed sleeper train on January 17 or 18, 2026. The 16-coach train will feature world-class facilities, including First AC, Second AC, and Third AC sleeper coaches. It is equipped with UVC-based disinfection systems, bio-toilets, CCTV cameras, emergency talk-back units, centralized coach monitoring, Kavach safety system, and improved suspension for a smoother ride at speeds up to 180 kmph. Designed for overnight travel, the train promises enhanced comfort, safety, and accessibility, including special arrangements for senior citizens and divyang passengers.
