Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant isn't playing tonight's Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday (May 12). Pant has been sanctioned with a one-match suspension following his team's breach of the slow over-rate regulation for the third instance.

Ahead of RCB vs DC IPL 2024 match, Rishabh Pant posted a cryptic story on Instagram, in which he wrote: "The only thing we have power over in the universe is our own thoughts."

Tonight's IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) holds significant importance for both teams' qualification for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs. With regular captain Rishabh Pant facing suspension, Delhi Capitals' management has entrusted spin all-rounder Axar Patel with the responsibility of leading DC in tonight's crucial encounter against RCB.

In addition to the one-match ban, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 lakh for his team maintaining a slow-over rate for the third time. Also, the remaining players of Delhi Capitals' playing 11 in that game, including the Impact Player, faced fines of either INR 12 lakh or 50% of their match fees, whichever is lower.

"Will bowl first. Bangalore wicket is always good. It's a chasing ground. When we start well, we dominate the game. Rishabh was angry, and had appealed as well against the suspension. He's at the ground here, motivating the team. Kushagra comes in for Rishabh. Rasikh Dhar is in," said DC's stand-in skipper Axar Patel after he won the toss in RCB vs DC IPL 2024 match.

Can Delhi Capitals qualify for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Playoffs

With just two matches remaining, Delhi Capitals (DC) currently occupy the 5th position in IPL points table. If DC wins both their remaining matches, this could elevate them to 16 points, but this won't push them to the top 2 positions at the end of league stage games.

To secure a spot in IPL 2024 playoffs, Delhi Capitals must win both their remaining matches and hope that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lose at least one of their remaining two league stage games.
