New Delhi: New Zealand took command in the Christchurch Test against India on the opening day after bowling out the visitors for 242 in their first innings. Apart from Prithvi Shaw's fiery fifty up the order and valiant half tons by Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari after the post lunch session, the rest of the Indian batting crumbled against the fiery Kiwis pace attack. Virat Kohli's poor run with the willow extended as he was trapped by Southee for just 7. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja could not chip in with the bat before Shami and Bumrah provided a late flourish to help India post 242. Besides Jamieson, Tim Southee and Trent Boult picked up two wickets each.
