World Cup 2019: Jadeja lashes out over Manjrekar's 'bits and pieces' comment

Manjrekar’s comments led to the Jadeja expressing his frustration on Twitter asking the former to learn to respect people who have achieved something

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been terrific in the field for the team India. The star all-rounder had grabbed a beautiful diving catch to dismiss the ‘hard-hitting’ Glenn Maxwell that helped India beat the defending champions Australia easily. However, cricketer-turned -commentator Sanjay Manjrekar told IANS that he is not a fan of bits and pieces players like Jadeja. Manjrekar’s comments led to the Jadeja expressing his frustration on Twitter asking the former to learn to respect people who have achieved something. "I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner," Manjrekar was quoted as saying by IANS on Monday. Jadeja did not took this criticism well and wrote,” Still i have played twice the number of matches you have played and i m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea". Earlier, asked if the way both Chahal and Kuldeep went for runs was another pointer that the team could think of playing someone like Ravindra Jadeja, Manjrekar begged to differ. "I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-overs cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-overs cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner. "You never actually base your judgements on exceptional results. India losing to England was an exceptional result. Spinners going for runs is exceptional and you have to understand that," he had said.
