Virat Kohli decided to sit out of Delhi's upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra, reportedly due to a neck issue. While many big names of the Indian cricket team have confirmed their participation in the premier domestic tournament, Kohli's return is delayed.
When will Virat Kohli play in Ranji Trophy 2025?
The former India captain is expected to make his much-awaited Ranji Trophy comeback on January 30, when Delhi will face Railways, most likely at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, marking his first Ranji Trophy appearance since 2012.
Apart from Kohli, Rishabh Pant is also making a return to domestic cricket after seven years. Pant has been included in Delhi's squad for match against Saurashtra, but he will not captain the team, with Ayush Badoni taking the leadership role.

Team India's star players flop in Ranji Trophy
The second phase of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 began today, with several high-profile Indian players making their appearance. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are playing for Mumbai, Shubman Gill is representing Punjab, Rishabh Pant is in the Delhi squad, and Ravindra Jadeja is playing for Saurashtra.
In the match between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir, both Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed early. Rohit was out for just 3 runs, and Jaiswal followed soon after with a score of only 4 runs. Similarly, in the match between Punjab and Karnataka, Shubman Gill failed to make a mark. Opening the innings for Punjab, Gill managed just 4 runs off 8 balls before getting out.
