WATCH: Spider Camera Knocks Down Anrich Nortje During AUS vs SA Boxing Day Test At MCG

Nortje was stationed at the backward-square fielding position during Australia's first innings when the spider camera came too low and hit him with speed, knocking him down.

In a rather strange turn of events at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia, South Africa's Anrich Nortje was knocked down by the spider camera when the Protean star was fielding. The incident happened during Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test match which is being played between Australia and South Africa.

Notably, Nortje was stationed at the backward-square fielding position during Australia's first innings when the spider camera of Fox Sports, hit the South African speedster with a bang, knocking the fielder down. Fortunately though, Nortje escaped a serious injury.

Former Australia captain Steve Smith was among the first ones to check if Nortje was doing alright but the 29-year-old quickly was back on his feet after falling over. The video of the incident captured from another angle by Broadcaster Seven has gone viral on social media.

Take a look at the video:

Warner, Smith's innings after Cameron Green's fifer puts Australia in Driver's seat

It all unfolded in the second session of the day just after the fast bowler had delivered a top-notch spell of fast bowling, conceding 11 runs of his 4 overs and asking some tough questions of the host batters.

Talking about the match, David Warner's double hundred coupled with Steve Smith's 85 has taken Australia to a dominant position in the second Test match, after they bowled the visitors out for 189 in the first innings. IPL's new multi millionaire Cameron Green proved his utility in Test match cricket as he scalped 5 for 27.

In response, the Aussies did lose Usman Khawaja early followed by the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne but a 239-run stand beaten Warner and Smith has put the home team in the driver's seat. Warner became only the second Australian and the 10th batter overall to bring up a hundred in his 100th Test match. He also surpassed the 8000-run tally during his innings.
