Virat Kohli had been having a dismal T20 World Cup campaign as the batter struggled with form but he came back in form when it mattered the most– the final. Kohli played the role of an anchor throughout India’s batting innings and helped the team to post a competitive total.

Both Kohli and Rohit, who retired from the format on June 29, are the only players to have scored 4000+ runs in all three international formats.
- 48.69 Average: Kohli's average of 48.69 in T20Is is the second-highest for any player, just behind Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan (48.72).
- Player of the Match Awards: Kohli has won 16 Player of the Match awards in T20Is, the most by any player, one ahead of Suryakumar Yadav. He also holds the record for being Player of the Series six times, including twice in T20 World Cups (2014, 2016).
