In their final T20 World Cup 2024 group stage match on Sunday, Pakistan secured a narrow three-wicket win over Ireland. Despite the win, the 'Men in Green' were unable to qualify for the Super 8s stage of the tournament.
In the post-match press conference following PAK vs IRE match, Babar Azam addressed Pakistan's failure to progress to the T20 World Cup Super 8 stage.
After PAK vs IRE match, Babar Azam commented, "We performed well, especially with early wickets in bowling. While our batting struggled, we managed to win with contributions from the lower order. The bowling was effective given the conditions favored our fast bowlers. We missed opportunities against USA and India."
Azam added, "I am flexible with my batting position. Whether opening or at number 3, I will adapt to the team's needs. We have talented players, and after a few days' rest, we will analyze our mistakes. As a team, our performance in this tournament hasn't been up to our standards."
