Shardul Thakur likely to be ruled out of second Test: Reports

After his injury, the rehabilitation program of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has come under the scanner as his groin injury which he sustained during the Asia Cup in Dubai came out again

It appears that getting off the field in mere 1.4 overs in not just the end of the bittersweet debut for Shardul Thakur. According to reports, the 26-year-old is likely to be ruled out of the second Test match between India vs West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium. Thakur’s possible exclusion will be a shocker for the India squad as he was the only change made to the winning XI squad of the first Test in Rajkot at the expense of Mohammed Shami.

“We are waiting for scans but he will not take the field today,” BCCI official reportedly said. After his injury, the rehabilitation program of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has come under the scanner as his groin injury which he sustained during the Asia Cup in Dubai came out again.

This is the second time when Thakur has been out in two consecutive international matches. On September 18, Thakur was sent back to India due to a hip and groin injury after a match against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup earlier.

Ten days later, on September 28, Shardul got the chance to play in the Vijay Hazare trophy from Mumbai's team but his fitness has begun to question that why he got the approval from the NCA to play.

However, in a statement earlier made a BCCI official said, “Shardul Thakur went for scans and we're awaiting reports. He'll be assessed today and probably for the next few days. Once we get to know what his progress is, his participation will be decided accordingly.
