Rishabh Pant Will Undergo Surgery and Subsequent Procedures For Ligament Tears: BCCI

Rishabh Pant Car Accident: The BCCI will be shifting Pant to Mumbai where he will be admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a second medical update on Rishabh Pant's health. After the cricketer had met with an accident on December 30, the Indian Cricket Board had released a statement confirming the extent of the injuries and the fact their contracted cricket star was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Dehradun.

And now in their second health bulletin, the BCCI have said that they will be shifting the injured wicketkeeper-batter to Mumbai where he will be admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute.

BCCI Medical Team to monitor Pant's recovery and rehabilitation

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India have made all the necessary arrangements to shift India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to Mumbai. Rishabh, who is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at Max Hospital, Dehradun following a car accident on 30th December, will be brought to Mumbai in an air ambulance," said BCCI in it's official release.

"He will be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute and will be under the direct supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, Head - the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director - Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the hospital. Rishabh will undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for ligament tears and will continue to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team throughout his recovery and rehabilitation," the statement further read.

"The Board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and will provide him with all the support he needs during this period," it concluded.

The 25-year-old was driving from Delhi to Roorkee when he met with an accident. He wanted to surprise his mother for new year. Initial reports had suggested that Pant dozed off while driving which caused the accident, while the later the cricketer claimed he saw something black, perhaps a pothole, which he wanted to avoid and lost control of the vehicle.

The pothole theory has been ruled out by NHAI official Pradeep Singh Gusain who told PTI that there are no potholes on the road where the accident occurred. However, he said that the road is a bit narrow owing to a canal adjacent to a highway which is used for irrigation.
