Rahul Dravid Reveals Suryakumar Yadav Grabbed 150-160 Catches Near Boundary Rope Before David Miller's Game-Changing Catch In T20 World Cup Final
Rahul Dravid revealed that Suryakumar Yadav had actually practised more than hundred catches near boundary ropes before his match-changing catch of David Miller in the T20 World Cup final.
Suryakumar Yadav's catch near the boundary ropes in the India vs South Africa T20 World Cup final in Barbados will be talked about for ages. While Hardik had bowled a low full toss outside off, David Miller, Proteas last recognised batter on strike with 16 needed of 6 balls smashed one down the ground. The ball went up in the air and it seemed like Miller had hit it sweetly enough for it to cross the boundary and get six runs. However, that was not to be.
As it turned out, in a display of athleticism at its very best, Suryakumar first plucked the ball then threw the ball in the air as he realised that the momentum might take him past the ropes before coming back and taking the catch. At the spur of the moment and under immense pressure, Suryakumar's catch massively tilted the balance of the match in favour of India as the Men in Blue eventuallly went on to win the match.

Didn't Know God Would Give Present An Opportunity To Take Such A Catch In Final: Suryakumar Yadav
During Team India's interactive session with Prime Minister Narendra Modi too, there was mention of that catch. While PM Modi initially seemed surprised that Suryakumar had actually practised for such catches, head coach of the champion side Rahul Dravid chipped in by saying that Suryakumar had actually taken 150-160 such catches heading into the final.
"From the start of the tournament and even prior to that while returning after the IPL, I had practised such catches. But didn't know then that God would give me a such an opportunity in the final," Suryakumar told PM Modi during the interaction after Dravid revealed the number of catches the player had taken at practice.
"But I had practised such catches before which helped me stay calm when the situation came."
