On November 27, 2024, tributes poured in from around the world, celebrating the memory of Phillip Hughes, while hashtags #63NotOut, #63NotOutForever and #PhillipHughes trended on X (formerly Twitter).

Phillip Hughes 10-Year Death Anniversary: On this day, exactly a decade ago, cricket showed the world its darkest side when Australian cricketer Phillip Joel Hughes tragically passed away after sustaining a fatal injury while playing the sport he loved most. Phil Hughes was struck on the neck by a bouncer delivered by Sean Abbott during a Sheffield Shield match. He was subsequently hospitalized but was declared dead two days later, on November 27, 2014. On the 10th anniversary of Phillip's passing, his family and friends along with many members of the cricket fraternity shared touching tributes.

Playing for South Australia against New South Wales at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the 25-year-old left-handed batter was on 63 runs when a short-pitched delivery from his mate Sean Abbott hit him on the neck.

The impact caused a rare vertebral artery dissection, resulting in a brain hemorrhage. Hughes collapsed on the field and was immediately rushed to a Sydney hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Sadly, despite all efforts to save him, Hughes passed away on November 27, 2014, just three days prior to his 26th birthday. The cricket world was left in disbelief and sorrow, with tributes flooding in from players, fans and officials alike, mourning the loss of a promising young talent.
