India's batting maestro Virat Kohli has made a major jump in the latest ICC ODI rankings, rising to fourth place after his impressive performances against Pakistan and Australia in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Former India captain Virat Kohli, who was previously ranked sixth, has been rewarded for his consistent batting displays in the Champions Trophy.

On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has faced a setback, dropping two places in the rankings update. Star opener Shubman Gill continues to dominate the ICC ODI rankings, holding on to his No.1 position among batters.

Virat Kohli's century against Pakistan

Legendary batter Virat Kohli had a slow start to the Champions Trophy 2025, failing to make an impact in India's opening match against Bangladesh.

However, he quickly bounced back with a century against Pakistan, reaffirming his dominance over his favorite rival. Though he couldn't contribute much against New Zealand, he played a crucial 84-run knock in the semi-final against Australia, guiding India to victory and earning the Player of the Match award.

Rohit Sharma's ranking declines

Veteran opener Rohit Sharma, who entered the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament as the third-ranked ODI batter, has slipped two places to fifth with 745 rating points. While he consistently provided aggressive starts at the top of the order, he struggled to convert them into big scores, leading to his decline in the latest ICC ODI rankings.
