First Kiwi To Do It: Kane Williamson's Historic Semifinal Performance

Kane Williamson has been in excellent form throughout the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament.

In the second semi-final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025, former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson showcased a brilliant performance against South Africa, achieving a historic milestone.

With this innings, he became the first New Zealand player to surpass 19,000 international runs. Williamson has been in excellent form throughout the tournament, adding yet another remarkable feat to his illustrious career.

Kane Williamson scripts history in SA vs NZ Semifinal

In ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal against South Africa, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat first. His decision proved fruitful as Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson delivered stunning centuries, setting up a strong total for the team.

With his brilliant knock, Williamson reached a historic milestone, becoming the first New Zealand player to cross 19,000 international runs. He surpassed Ross Taylor's tally of 18,199 runs and Stephen Fleming's 15,289 runs, cementing his place as one of New Zealand's greatest batters. Now, Williamson has his sights set on the coveted 20,000-run mark in international cricket.

Williamson's century streak continues

Kane Williamson has carried his fine form from the pre-Champions Trophy tri-series against Pakistan and South Africa into the tournament. After playing a crucial knock against India, the New Zealand batter once again delivered on the big stage, scoring a brilliant 102 runs before being dismissed.

This was Williamson's fourth century against South Africa and his fourth in an ICC ODI tournament. With this latest ton, he has now registered 15 centuries in the ODI format.

21-year record shattered: Rachin-Williamson partnership makes history

In SA vs NZ semifinal, Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson put on a stellar batting display, breaking a 21-year-old record. Facing South Africa's strong bowling attack, the Kiwi duo built a formidable 164-run partnership for the second wicket - the highest by a New Zealand pair in Champions Trophy history.
