UP Boatman's Family Earned Rs 30 Crore In 45 Days During Maha Kumbh? Here's The Truth
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted a success story during the Maha Kumbh, where a family with 130 boats earned a profit of Rs 30 crore.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared a Maha Kumbh success story of a family with 130 boats that made Rs 30 crore profit during the 45-day mega religious congregation in Prayagraj.
Speaking during the budget session of the UP Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, Adityanath slammed the opposition for their negative remarks to say that people have rejected their claims.
He reacted to the Samajwadi Party's allegation that the boatmen were "exploited" during the Maha Kumbh by giving example of a family that owned 130 boats.
"I am telling the success story of a boatman's family. They have 130 boats. In 45 days (of Maha Kumbh), they have profited Rs 30 crore... This means each boat has earned Rs 23 lakh. On a daily basis, they earned Rs 50,000-52,000 from each boat," he said without mentioning any names.

How Much Did The Family Earn?
To verify the claim made by Yogi Adtiyanath, an ABP News team reached the Mahra family residing in Arail area of Prayagraj.
The family said they have 130 boats of which 70 were prepared right before Maha Kumbh. They said they earned way more than what they expected, however they did not earn Rs 30 crore. The family did not consent on sharing the actual amount they earned.
They also claimed that they earned more from the tip they received from their customers than the boat ride fare that was fixed by the government. The family claimed that all the boatmen got a chance to earn money and made a good income in this Maha Kumbh.

No Exploitation Of Boatmen
The family refuted the Samajwadi Party's claim that the boatmen were exploited during the grand festival. They said that Akhilesh Yadav gave a false statement, adding that the government provided significant help to all boatmen this time.
They also credited the management of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the Maha Kumbh for their significant earnings.
They said that it was because of the excellent management by CM Yogi Adityanath at the faith-based event that over 66 crore devotees attended. The large number of devotees contributed to the family’s increased earnings this time.
