Naveen Ul Haq Takes A Jibe At Critics With Instagram Post After Afghanistan's Win Over Australia In T20 WC 2024

Afghanistan's Naveen Ul Haq posted a 'Support vs Congratulations' picture on Instagram putting critics in his firing line that quickly went viral.

Afghanistan (AFG) registered a memorable victory over Australia (AUS) by defeating them by 21 runs in their Super 8 match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 on June 23 (as per Indian Standard Time). It was a must-win contest for Afghanistan as a loss would have meant their elimination from the race to the tournament’s semi-finals. Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq was one of the architects of his team’s victory. Interestingly after the AUS vs AFG match, Naveen posted a 'Support vs Congratulations' picture on Instagram putting critics in his firing line that quickly went viral.

Naveen made a perfect start for Afghanistan, taking two early wickets with the new ball to put Australia on the back foot while defending 149 on a spin-friendly wicket. However, it's his Instagram post criticising his critics that has gained more attention.

Naveen's Instagram post features two pictures: one shows a person sitting alone in a stadium, while the other depicts a stand filled with spectators. The second slide shows congratulations, while the first slide shows support. Naveen captioned the post with a finger on the lips emoji.

What Naveen intended to convey was that success leads to accolades from those who never supported the team during their struggles.

Bowlers Star In Afghanistan's Win Over Australia

Gulbadin, Naveen, and the rest of the Afghan bowlers performed exceptionally well against the Australian batting lineup. Glenn Maxwell held the chase together until Naib took the crucial wicket as Maxwell departed for 59, after which Australia collapsed from 106 for 5 to 127 all out in less than 5 overs.

The loss means that Australia must win their match against India to remain in contention for the semifinals. Meanwhile, Afghanistan made a strong comeback following their heavy defeat against India in their first T20I of the Super 8s.
