India Inch Closer To Semi-Final Spot In T20 World Cup 2024
India’s victory over Bangladesh marked a significant stride towards securing a semi-final berth in the T20 World Cup 2024. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India posted a commendable total of 196/5, their highest score in the tournament so far. Hardik Pandya played a pivotal role with an unbeaten 50 off 27 balls.
Opting to bowl first, Bangladesh’s strategy faltered as India's openers, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, built a strong foundation with a 39-run partnership. Despite initial breakthroughs by Bangladesh, India’s middle order, bolstered by contributions from Rishabh Pant and Shivam Dube, ensured a formidable total.
Bangladesh’s chase struggled to gather momentum, finishing at 146/8. Hardik Pandya not only shone with the bat but also made crucial inroads with the ball, dismissing Litton Das to break the opening partnership. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav further dented Bangladesh’s progress with three important wickets, concluding with impressive figures of 3-19.
