Major League Cricket 2025 featured six teams. Washington Freedom, Texas Super Kings, San Francisco Unicorns, and MI New York secured the top four spots after the league stage to qualify for the playoffs. When the qualifier was washed out due to rain, Washington—being the table-toppers—earned a direct entry into the final.

In the eliminator match, MI New York defeated San Francisco Unicorns to advance to the Challenger. They then got past Texas Super Kings in the Challenger to become the second team to qualify for the final.

This is the third edition of Major League Cricket. MI New York won the inaugural season in 2023, while Washington Freedom were the champions in the 2024 edition. Therefore, whichever team wins this time will be crowned MLC champions for the second time.
