Legends Cricket Trophy 2024: Colombo Lions continue their dismal run in the ongoing Legends Cricket Trophy 2024, as the franchise have lost their fourth game in a row and sit winless in the newly-introduced 90Ball format. The side, consisting of big names such as Ben Dunk, Ross Taylor, Asghar Afghan and so on, cannot seem to find the right match and combination for their starting XI, as they continue to hit roadblock after roadblock, in their pursuit of play-offs.

Colombo Lions Vs Punjab Royal Legends Cricket Trophy 90Ball 2024 Match 14 - Match Report

Electing to bowl first, Punjab Royals did justice to their call by bowling extremely well at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, as the side got rid of dangerous Jesse Ryder. The only bright spot for Colombo Lions this entire tournament has been thr Australian swashbuckling batter, Ben Dunk. The momentum of runs depend upon the left-handed batsman and once he departs, the team falters.

Same was the case on Friday as well, as the team barely managed to reach 127/8 in their 15 overs, with Ben Dunk top scoring with a vital 39 off 21. Robbie Frylinck played a handy knock of 30 but the score on the board wasn't eough to tame the intimidating lineup of Punjab Royal.

The Punjab Royal side cruised to the target in just 12.2 overs, thanks to fearsome knocks off Tillakaratne Dilshan and Dilshan Munaweera, as their vital 40's saw the side chase down the target to register an eight-wicket win and move to fourth in the points table.
